TROY DANA, President. Mr. Dana is responsible for national growth, lender relations, and oversight of all Academy Commercial offices across the country. He has over 22 years’ experience in real estate, development, finance, 1031 exchanges, tenant in common structures, securities, and equity. Mr. Dana has helped secure financing on over $1 billion on projects he has worked on and has structured over $1 billion in equity on other asset types, including oil and gas, tenant in common structures, multi-family, and retail developments nationwide. He and his wife have been married for 20 years, have four children, and reside in Utah.
CHARLOTTE BARLOW, Senior Manager. Ms. Barlow joined Academy Commercial in 2015 and is the Senior Manager of the commercial lending division. She works closely with both commercial loan originators and lenders to oversee the processing of all loan originations and closings. She cultivates and maintains active relationships with a wide network of lenders, including banks, agency, life insurance companies, CMBS lenders and private equity.
Ms. Barlow has 20 years of experience in commercial and residential real estate. She built and managed a residential appraisal firm before transitioning into commercial finance. Ms. Barlow is a graduate of the University of Utah. She is a licensed real estate agent, certified appraiser in the state of Utah and a licensed mortgage agent in multiple states. Charlotte is active in real estate investing and development with ownership and experience in agriculture, residential and commercial investments. Charlotte is active in her community and serves as a city council member for the board of adjustments.
MATT BURELLO, Regional Manager – Baltimore. Mr. Burello drives the Commercial Real Estate and Commercial & Industrial Lending business development process and transactions. Matt is a Commercial Lending professional with direct experience in the origination, underwriting, structuring, negotiating, closing and workout of commercial real estate and C&I loans from both the borrower and lender perspective. Matt has over 15 years of industry experience including: C&I, multi-family, office, industrial, hotel, and retail properties, fixed and floating rate structures (Balance Sheet, Life Companies and CMBS), ground-leased properties, first trust deed, mezzanine/structured finance, bridge loans, construction and permanent loans, revolving lines of credit, loan syndications, and complex portfolio financings.
Matt is a team player with excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, and extensive contacts within the CRE and C&I industry nationwide. He truly enjoys prospecting and establishing relationships with business owners and commercial real estate developers. He views his commercial lending career as extremely rewarding, as an example, watching vacant land transpose from the ground up into a newly built hotel, which in turn drives revenue, promotes tourism and creates hundreds of jobs in the community. Matt is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a B.A. degree in Business Communications and Economics.
JOE GANLEY, Regional Manager – Florida. Joe is a lifelong Florida resident and an experienced Commercial Real Estate Lender with a diverse background covering all major property types and markets. After graduating from the University of Florida, Joe began his career with Barnett Bank in 1988 and has worked for various national and regional lending institutions throughout Florida. During his career, Joe has originated and managed over $1.5 billion in CRE loans. His 25+ years of lending in all Florida markets have given Joe a broad knowledge of all segments of commercial real estate finance and access to many sources of capital. He takes pride in offering superior personal service and responsiveness to his clients.
In his free time, Joe likes spending time outdoors and traveling with his family. He is an avid runner, having completed 12 marathons and numerous half-marathons and triathlons. He believes in giving back to the community through various community and charitable organizations.
JARED SHUPE, Regional Manager - Arizona. Jared Shupe is currently the Regional Manager for the commercial division in Phoenix, Arizona. He has been in commercial banking for the last 18 years. He began his career with Washington Mutual in Utah as a commercial credit analyst and then transitioned into traditional commercial lending roles With Washington Mutual, Zions Bank, and Western Alliance Bank. Jared joined the Academy team in March 2016.
Jared has lending experience with commercial real estate, commercial and industrial finance, equipment lending and leasing, franchise finance, and SBA lending.
In his spare time he enjoys traveling with his wife and two children (ages 13 and 10). His favorite destination so far was a Mediterranean cruise to Italy and Spain. He coaches his son in little league sports, spends quite a bit of time watching competitive soccer with his daughter and tries to fill the rest of his time playing golf.
ANGELINA MURAWSKI, Commercial Processor. Angelina joined the Academy Commercial Team in 2016. She works with Charlotte Barlow and the Commercial Team to ensure documentation has been collected from clients, loan presentations are prepared, and all lenders have the necessary information to provide feedback on loan requests. Her efforts support the team throughout the Commercial Team’s processes, from initial contact with clients to loan closing.
Prior to joining the Academy Commercial Team, Angelina worked in personal banking at a major eastern regional bank. She transitioned into managing the finance division for a solar company when she moved west. In this position, her focus was on managing relationships with solar lenders and arranging financing for residential clients. Client engagement and relationship development have been a core focus of her professional career.
ALICIA ROMANO, Executive Assistant. Alicia Romano has worked in the mortgage industry for more than ten years. She has worked for Academy Mortgage six of those years. She recently transitioned to the Executive Assistant position for Academy Commercial, LLC, and assists Troy Dana and the Academy Commercial team.
Alicia was born and raised in Utah. She and her husband have a four-year-old boy and a baby girl. She enjoys being outdoors, loves football and mixed martial arts, and will never pass up Italian food.
